The Official Life in the UK Citizenship Test App
Android, iOS and Windows Phone versions.
The brief
Around 15,000 people per month take the Life in the UK Test in order to gain British citizenship. Everyone who applies to become a British citizen or for permanent residence in the UK has to show their knowledge of the English Language and of life in the United Kingdom – taking the test is one way they can do this.
The Stationery Office (TSO) publishes official test material written by the Home Office Life in the UK Advisory Group. TSO wished to publish an iPhone app which helped applicants practice for their test wherever and whenever they wanted.
Our work
The Release Consulting Ltd Mobile Application team worked in conjunction with staff from TSO to design & build an iPhone app, Windows Phone app & an Android app which contained official practice questions.
Each time the app is used it creates a new test by a unique combination of 24 questions from the TSO official test bank. The result is an interactive learning aid with the power to create millions of unique tests that can be purchased and used by anyone with an iPhone, iPod Touch, IPad, Windows Phone or Android phone.
The result
The official publications are designed to give candidates the best preparation for their test and the new iPhone and Android apps are the perfect supplement, providing a convenient and accurate way for candidates to test themselves on what they have learnt.
“We are very pleased that our partners, TSO, continue to develop the official citizenship materials to ensure that they are accessible to all. The use of this new technology is an extremely interesting development as it will appeal particularly to young people, who are one of the priority groups for our integration strategies. Initiatives such as this, that increase the reach of the materials and appeal to different learning styles, are very welcome.”
